SIFE SMU holding January 13th Benefit Concert

Come out for a great night of music and help build a school in Sudan! Eight local bands have been brought together by two Saint Mary’s University Students with a passion to help those in need.

Event organizers, Stephanie Gill and Kaitlyn Touesnard are involved in Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), a not for profit, student run organization designed to better their community. Through SIFE they became involved with the charity Wadeng: Wings of Hope. Captivated by charity founder, Jacob Deng’s story the women wanted to do their part. Jacob is one of the lost boys from Sudan. He fled from Sudan when he was only seven with many other boys his age and made his way to Canada.

Jacob formed Wadeng: Wings of Hope after revisiting his village for the first time in 2005. He promised them a school and is now working to make that dream come true. Since the charity has set sail Jacob has had a documentary filmed and a book written about him. He’s well on his way to improving the lives of those in his village but still has a long way to go.

Help make Jacob Deng’s dream come true by coming out to the Wadeng: Wings of Hope Benefit Concert!!
