Fellow Students,

My name is Cait Dix, and I will be serving as the Vice President Academic Affairs of your students association this year. I am currently in my second year of the Master of Arts International Development Studies program.

Throughout this year, my main objective is to be a source of information to all students on matters of academic interest. I plan to work very hard to help students be aware of the tools they need to do well in their academic career while at Saint Mary’s University. The VP Academic position also represents the voice of students at many academic related forums, such as Academic Senate and other committees. On these committee’s I will ensure that the student’s priorities are valued by voicing the concerns of the students.

There are many academic issues for students, including achieving goals in classes, finding a tutor, and appealing a final grade. Here at SMUSA, we have many resources for students to utilize, such as the Book Exchange, and the Tutor Database. I am also working on new initiatives that will benefit students throughout their years at SMU. I am committed to making sure you are up to date with all of SMU’s academic regulations, policies and deadlines.

I am here to answer your questions or concerns about any of these issues or services. Drop by my office on the 5th floor of the Student Centre or contact me by phone or email. Check out the VP Academic Blog for more information http://smuvpacademic.blogspot.com/

Good luck this year, and remember that SMUSA is here to provide services for you so take advantage of them.

Cheers,
Cait
