Dearest Students,

As your Vice President, University Affairs, I am your voice, inside, and at times, outside the University. My job is to represent you, the students, and lobby on behalf of you with the Saint Mary’s University community, on all non-academic matters. I ensure that your University experience is a positive and beneficial one, at a justified cost, and try my level best to address all concerns you may have with regards to the functioning or development of the university. To best assist you all in this, I have a seat on the University’s Board of Governors, and various other University Committees that determine how Saint Mary’s University will address a current issue, or position itself in general for the future.

One of my jobs as the Vice President, University Affairs is to ensure that your rights are protected. Keeping that in mind, this year, I will be helping the Student Association set up a service for you, to permit me to act as a liaison, between your on-campus employer, and you, the student on-campus employee, to best preserve your interests, and answer any questions you may have, no matter how trivial, with regards to your job!

I am also your secondary representative to our external advocacy groups : The Alliance of Nova Scotia Student Associations(ANSSA) and the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations(CASA). These groups advocate for accessible, affordable and high quality Post-Secondary Education .

If you have any questions or concerns, with regards to any aspect of my work. Or would like to voice your opinion on a current matter, do not hesitate to contact me at 496-8716, or vpuniversityaffairs@smusa.ca, or drop by my office, on the 5th floor of the student center. Hope the coming year is fun-filled, and as amazing as you expect it to be.

Regards,
Aayoosh Sapra
