Hi Huskies! We’re the Saint Mary’s University Students’ Association (SMUSA) and we’re super excited for you to join us on campus! As students working for students, we’re here to make your university experience the best it can be! That’s why we’ve been working hard to make this year a memorable one for each and every one of you, starting with Welcome Weeks!

Welcome Weeks is filled with social events and educational activities designed to help you meet new friends, get familiar with the Saint Mary’s community, and meet faculty & professors. Throughout Welcome Weeks, you’ll get to connect with support systems and resources, meet student leaders and members of the Saint Mary’s community, and best of all, participate in some pretty cool events & activities! Skip the line, and pre-order your Welcome Weeks Kit online for the discounted price of $105! It’s the quickest, easiest, and cheapest way to buy your kit! Alternatively, you can buy a kit for the full price of $110 at our Information Desk during Welcome Weeks (while supplies last).

Date/Time: Saturday August 31st, 7-9pm
Location: McNally Main Auditorium

Event Description: Ever wanted to be on a game show? Try your luck at our version of the popular game show Jeopardy as Denis Amirault, our Trivia Host, becomes Alex Trebek for the night. Come out for a night of games, laughs and pizza!

Sunday, Sept. 1st

Welcome to the Gorsebrook (ft. a secret DJ)

Date/Time: Sunday, September 1st, 9pm-1am
Location: The Gorsebrook Lounge

Event Description: This alcohol-free event is open to all ages. Dance the night away with us and other first year students! Stay tuned for who the secret DJ will be!

Monday, Sept. 2nd

Husky Cup

Date/Time: Monday, September 2nd, 2pm-4pm
Location: Huskies Stadium (SMU Football Field)

Event Description: This is your chance to show your competitive side! Six teams will compete against each other to win the Husky Cup. Get ready to take on challenges, obstacle courses, fun games and a big water fight to end the afternoon!

Tuesday, Sept. 3rd

City Scramble

Date/Time: Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, 3:30-5pm
Location: Quad (Outside the Student Centre)

Event Description: Teams will compete in an “Amazing Race” around Downtown Halifax to find clues and complete challenges at 10 secret locations. The winning team gets a special prize at the final location!

Movie Night on the Field

Date/Time: Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, 9-11pm
Location: Huskies Stadium (SMU Football Field)

Event Description: Grab a blanket and join us for a movie night on the field the day before classes begin!

Wednesday, Sept. 4th

Wayne Hoffman the Mentalist

Date/Time: Wednesday, September 4th, 7-8pm
Location: McNally Main Auditorium

Event Description: Multi-award winning performer Wayne Hoffman is recognized as one of the top mentalists in the world. Wayne’ s show is a high-energy presentation that involves body language, human behaviour, and visual magic that will make your head explode.

SMU Community Day

Date/Time: Friday, September 6th, 9am-3pm
Location: McNally Main Auditorium

Event Description: SMUSA and Career Services invite you to give back to the Halifax community by volunteering at 6 organizations/locations around the city. For more information on registration, locations, and activities, please visit www.smusa.ca.

Carnival on the Quad

Date/Time: Friday, September 6th, 5-9pm
Location: Quad (Outside the Student Centre)

Event Description: After a long day, the Quad transforms into a carnival! Come enjoy classic carnival rides, games, foods and live performances throughout the night.
